I am not a scientist but do have a couple of mixed reef tanks where I have battled algae and never really knew what type of algae it was. This microscope allowed me to connect it to my laptop. I tested it on the slides initially and my kids really liked going through them. Then I turned my attention to some salt water that I had sitting for a few days just to see if there was anything in there. Sure enough there was and I was able to show my kids microscopic organisms swimming around a drop of water from copepods to other organisms I could not identify. The case is very well organized and will keep your unit safe when put away. I really like that I can take pics and record what I find so I can track any new pests i find in my tank or even algae types. I should of had one of these sooner. I think for what you get with this unit, it is worth the price. I would recommend practicing with the slides until you get used to adjusting the settings, especially before trying to look at a liquid, to reduce risk of getting lens wet. I think this is useful for an adult and even a school aged child that is learning science or just wants to learn about science. I think it is a good value for the price and is constructed very well.

The microscope feels high quality, comes with many cool attachments for helping to grab pictures using our cell phones, and the stprage/carrying case is perfect to keep everything clean and dust free.

This microscope is great, and the whole kit comes with extra eye pieces (10x and 25x), cleaning cloth, and lots of other cool stuff.

On our farm we use this microscope to identify ticks and bugs on our plants. We have also used a tint to see if if sperm has swimmers or not.

We also have children and this is a wonderful tool to show them the things that cannot be seen with the naked eye.

Great entry level microscope. We did have to tighten down a few things, but the phone adapter is cool. Overall it works pretty well and is what I would expect at this price point.

To use the 100X objective lens, plus the 25X eyepiece for 2,500X, you have to adjust the "Concentrator" slide control underneath the stage and also adjust the light setting for best results. Since it's a Trinocular microscope, I leave the digital camera in place and adjust it along with the "diopter adjustment" so that up is up and down is down on both my laptop image and what I also see in the eye pieces. This is a great microscope. I wish I would have had one when I was studying biology back in my college days. Hope it helps. Good luck.

Wow, just wow!!!!! This is one of the best made (other than name brand) microscopes I have the privilege to own. The entire body is constructed of metal / steel. The care in design and assembly is obvious as the each piece is impeccably well made. The binocular / monocular (interchangeable) eye piece is a very quick screw-clamp on style which is quite versatile. The kit is incredibly all-inclusive and also brings an adapter for phones / cameras for quick and easy recording and documenting. There are multiple interchangeable eye pieces for amplification of this compound microscope. The magnifying pieces are of traditional magnifications of 4, 10, 40 and 100 (remember to use oil for the 100 lens.) The light path has very smooth adjustment, and the internal eye pieces are completely dust free (I have come across many different brands where manufacturers have left dust and hs been quite intrusive in field of view). This is a medical school / professional grade microscope. Give it the best care and it will give you a lifetime of incredible use.

I absolutely love this thing. I've always wanted a good microscope and grew up getting those little kits which really sparked my interest in science. I'm still learning the best ways to use this but we've found tardigrades and microscopic mites searching fruit and water from our pond. My youngest is really taking an interest in biology now which is a total win for me as a parent. Comes with a padded carrying case. I also purchased an attachment that plugs directly into my dslr camera and takes pictures directly from the eyepiece. Lots of adjustments to fit plenty of users including children. Highly recommend this thing for the value.

This is a nice starter microscope, and you can add a camera to record your experiments! This is as good as any scope you'll find in your local high school science lab. I do think you might want to get some of your own slides and covers so you can take a look at stuff they can't mount -- like a freshly cut bit of leaf -- you can see chlorophyll moving! Or a bit of bug, or whatever your heart desires. The important thing is to get curious.

I was a bit scared to purchase this item because of the amount of people who bought it. Usually I will only purchase an item if I see that it's been purchased many times. I researched and read reviews for microscopes on Amazon and eBay for weeks before making this purchase. It was packed very carefully and thoughtfully first of all. It worked immaculately! I haven't tried the 5mp camera since I don't have a laptop yet but will shortly. But so far so good I am very impressed on well it's made especially for the price. Overall I am very satisfied, I do recommend and would most likely will purchase more from this vendor. Thank you vendor!!!
