Produces nice and crisp starbursts
I quite like this filter. It creates star like bursts around point light sources. The overall effect is very pleasing and I like how simple it is to modify from 4 points of light to 8. I also really like that this allows you to achieve starbursts at whatever aperture you like, without the need for stopping way down.

The construction of the filter is pretty much perfect. It screwed onto my camera without any issues. The rotation of the filter is also really smooth, and it lets you fine tune how you want the starburst effect to look. It comes in a nice storage case, too, which I really like. It's just the right size, so doesn't really take up much extra space in my camera bag.

Overall, I have nothing bad to say about it. As a starburst filter, it functions perfectly and the effects it produces are super crisp. Haven't noticed any weird reflections, much of a drop in light transmission or vignetting. It's a very uniform filter that produces good sharp starbursts across it's entire area.

Easy to recommend if this is an effect you're after.

I love shooting with this filter
This star filter is a really fun addition to my camera bag and gives photos a creative look without needing to edit afterwards. It adds a nice starburst effect to light sources, reflections, and highlights, which works especially well for night photography, jewellery shots, portraits, and more artistic images. Being able to switch between 4-point and 8-point effects makes it more versatile than a fixed star filter. The filter feels well made, with good quality glass and a smooth adjustment mechanism that makes changing the effect simple. It attaches securely to the lens and does not feel like a cheap accessory. It does take some experimenting to find the right lighting and strength of effect, but that is part of the fun

Fun creative filter
This is a very fun and stylized filter great for adding creativity to your photos. k&F Concept have a wide product offering while still being able to be budget friendly but feel like a premium product. The packaging and build quality feel great- from the actual packaging to the filter holder to the filter itself nothing feels cheap.

The filter adds a fun star point effect that works best on hard light points. With the rotating parts (which rotate smoothly) you can adjust the points from 4 to 8 to dial in your creative look. The filter screws on nicely to 77mm threaded lenses.

Not something I am going to use on every shoot but definitely a fun and cool filter to have in my kit to let me add some star quality to my lights (or the sun) without having to stop my lens way down.

Unexpected detail in city lights
A short walk through the city after dark turned into an experiment with different light sources. Street lamps, shop signs and passing traffic all produced slightly different star patterns, which made familiar locations look more interesting without needing any complicated setup.

Switching between the available effects was straightforward, so I spent more time taking photos than adjusting equipment. One image of a riverside path ended up with crisp starbursts reflected across the water, something that would have been difficult to recreate afterwards.

A cool effect with a very well made filter!
This is definitely one of the more specialised photography accessories I've used, but if you're looking to add creative star effects to images, it does exactly what it's designed to do.

I quickly discovered that getting the best results requires a bit of experimentation. Bright point light sources are essential, and I found the effect becomes much more pronounced when shooting with a wider aperture. Once you have the right conditions, the results can be genuinely striking, particularly in night scenes or images with decorative lighting.

I really like that you can rotate the filter to change the angle of the star effect. It gives you a bit more creative control and allows you to fine-tune the look without needing to reposition the camera.

Build quality is excellent. The frame feels solid and well made, and it certainly seems durable.

In fact, I accidentally dropped it onto a hard floor without any protection and was relieved to find it completely unharmed.

I wouldn't recommend repeating the test, but it certainly inspired confidence...

Presentation is also first class. It arrives in a magnetically sealed cardboard box and comes housed in a sturdy round storage case with internal padding. Everything feels premium from the moment you open the box.

One thing that pleasantly surprised me was that the filter doesn't appear to have any noticeable impact on colours or contrast. I had expected some compromise in image quality, given the effect, but in my use it has remained largely neutral aside from the intended starburst effect.

This isn't the sort of filter that will live on my lens full-time, but that's not really the point.

It's a creative tool for very specific situations, and I can see it being particularly useful for portrait photography, night photography and certain wedding shots where decorative lights play a big role in the scene.

It's not a cheap accessory, but it's very well made, thoughtfully packaged and produces exactly the effect it's supposed to.

I think that for photographers who enjoy experimenting with creative effects in-camera, it's gonna be a worthwhile addition to the kit bag.

Well made filter that allows for starbursts at wide apertures
My K&F CONCEPT 2-in-1 Variable Star Filter is an 82mm which is the best fit for my lenses. It comes in a sturdy plastic clamshell case; which has a release button that keeps it closed in your bag. Well formed and clean Metal filter make it easy to screw on and off the lenses without needing to resort to a filter wrench to remove it. It’s a thick filter that is best used on a tele lens, it starts to creep into shots below 20mm on my camera.

The filter gives you a nice starburst effect on highlights, without needing to switch to a tiny aperture and perhaps increasing the shutter speed. This allows for star highlights on larger apertures like f2.8 which allows you to use faster shutter speeds or use it in portrait photography. The filter doesn’t seem to change the colour or sharpness of images taken using it.

You can adjust the number of starbursts by rotating the front of the filter, it isnt a binary choice between four or eight, As you twist the front element you can change the number of lines; the sample photo is showing 8. This rotates smoothly; when you do dial it up the effect steps up nicely. The highlights are in the same plane and balance out around their circle.

The filter is larger than the 82mm of my lens which does mean I can’t put a lens cap on whilst its in use.

A Versatile Creative Filter That Adds Instant Sparkle to Your Photography
I’ve been testing the K&F CONCEPT 77mm Variable Star Filter (Short Line 4‑Point / 8‑Point, Nano‑X Series) with my Nikon Z6III and NIKKOR Z 24‑120mm lens, and it’s turned out to be a surprisingly capable and enjoyable creative tool. I've reviewed many K&F Concept camera accessories, and nearly always have given them 4 or 5 stars, and this is no exception. It is a well‑made filter that gives you real control over how light behaves in your images.

Build Quality & Presentation
The filter arrives in a smart, branded box with a protective carry case, and both feel well thought out rather than generic packaging. The filter itself has the familiar solid feel of K&F’s Nano‑X series: smooth rotation, clean machining, and coatings that resist fingerprints and dust better than most creative filters I’ve used. Mounted on the lens, it sits securely with no wobble or play.

How the Variable Star Effect Works
This filter allows you to switch between 4‑point and 8‑point star patterns simply by rotating the front ring. The “variable” part isn’t just marketing; the rotation genuinely changes:
• The number of star points
• The length and intensity of the rays
• The angle of the starburst
This gives you far more flexibility than a fixed star filter, especially when shooting in changing light.

Real‑World Testing
To see what it could do, I photographed the setting sun shining through the leaves of my plum tree in my garden. I took four shots with the filter at different rotation settings (see photos 1-4), and one final shot without the filter for comparison (photo numbered 5).

The results were clear and easy to see:
• The 4‑point setting gives a clean, subtle sparkle that enhances the light without overwhelming the scene.
• The 8‑point setting produces a more dramatic, cinematic burst, ideal for sunsets, streetlights, or reflective surfaces.
• Rotating the filter changes the character of the starburst, from tight and crisp to longer, softer rays.
• The comparison shot without the filter shows how much the filter adds. The natural sunburst from the lens alone is pleasant, but the filter transforms it into something far more striking.

What impressed me most is that the filter doesn’t degrade image quality. Sharpness remains intact, colours stay accurate, and there’s no noticeable haze or colour cast. The Nano‑X coatings do a good job of keeping flare under control, even when shooting directly into the sun.

Where This Filter Shines
This is a great tool for:
• Golden hour landscapes
• City lights and street photography
• Night scenes with car headlights or neon signs
• Macro or close‑up shots with water droplets or reflective surfaces
• Creative portraits using fairy lights or reflective backgrounds
It’s one of those accessories that encourages experimentation; rotate, shoot, adjust, repeat, and every small change gives you a different look.

Final Thoughts
The K&F CONCEPT Variable Star Filter is a fun, flexible, and well‑built creative accessory. It adds a distinctive sparkle to highlights without compromising the overall image, and the ability to switch between 4‑point and 8‑point effects makes it far more versatile than a standard star filter.

If you enjoy adding a bit of visual flair to your photography, whether that’s sunsets, night scenes, or close‑up sparkle, this filter is a great addition to your kit.

Deluxe star filter
If you're looking to add the "star effect" to street lights, headlights, or candles, this is the "special sauce" you need to make it happen.

I opted for the 67mm version, and it does not disappoint, it comes from the Nano X line of premium filters from K&F Concept. It's very well crafted, the mounting threads are nicely machined with no rough spots. The outer ring turns smoothly with just the right amount of resistance for fine tuning the direction of your star pattern and whether it will add 4 points or 8 points to your star. The lens material and coating are really high quality.

The filter comes inside of a hard plastic case which helps to keep it clean and protected. You also get three individually sealed microfiber cleaning cloths. It's covered by a one year warranty for added peace of mind.

If you're thinking about picking up a star filter and adding a cool effect to your photos or videos, this is a great choice that's worth the investment.

Creative star filter that adds subtle sparkle without ruining image
I’ve been playing around with this star filter over the past few days, mainly for night shots and a bit of product photography, and it’s one of those tools that can really change the look of an image without needing complicated editing.

The adjustable effect is what makes it useful. You can rotate the filter to go from a softer 4-point star to a more pronounced 8-point look, and it’s easy to find a balance where it enhances the shot instead of overpowering it. I found keeping it in the mid range works best for a natural look. Build quality is solid. The glass feels clean and well finished, and it screws onto the lens smoothly without any issues. No cross-threading or stiffness. It also comes with a protective case, which is always appreciated when carrying filters around. In terms of image quality, it holds up well. There’s no noticeable loss of sharpness in normal use, and reflections are kept under control. The coating also helps with fingerprints, which makes it easier to keep clean between shots.

I’ve used it on city lights and small reflective objects, and it adds that extra bit of visual interest right away. It’s not something you’ll use for every shot, but when it fits the scene, it works really well.

Nice lens filter
PROS: This filter is nice for creating a softer, look, for harsher lights and it fits my 67mm lens perfectly. Also provides a good image indoors and outdoors. And I find it fairly priced for a filter of this quality. it also comes with a sturdy case & microfiber cloths.

CONS: The filter coating can scratch easily if you're not careful, and this lens is kinda niche for my purposes

Overall, I would recommend this product to others
