This Replacement Battery for the Insta360 X5 arrives in a K&F branded, cardboard box. Inside the box is the battery, inside a protective, plastic case.

The battery itself is well made and has a good finish throughout. I had no issues slotting it into, or taking it out of the X5 camera.

The plastic, clamshell style case is basic, but does a good job of storing and protecting the battery. It measures 7.4cm wide by 5cm deep and is 2.3cm thick. There are two slots built into the inside of the lid, that also allows you to store two spare SD cards. This makes it a small, convenient way to have a spare battery and storage with you at all times, because it is so easy to slip it into the side of your bag or have it in your pocket.

In use the battery worked well. It is recognised by the X5 without any issues, so you can use all recording features without issue, unlike some other third-party batteries. Without proper equipment it’s hard to give an exact comparison in terms of how long it lasts compared to the more expensive Insta360 original batteries. But in use, it certainly seemed to last as long, if not slightly longer than the one that came with my camera.

However, an OEM battery directly from Insta360 will run about CAD$47, even after a $20 discount and the capacity is only 2400mAh. Luckily I found the K&F Concepts offering at about half the cost of the original, AND it has a 2700mAH capacity! More juice for less money? Yes, please! Although it is slightly less than the 2800mAh high capacity that is being sold by Insta360, it is selling for a fraction of the cost. Having charged and used it, the battery holds charge well and provides a little more recording time than the OEM batteries that came with the camera. For those looking for an alternative to the expensive OEM batteries, K&F Concepts is a no-brainer. Two thumbs up!

I carry more than a few spares for my X5 when using it as a motorcycle dashcam. This battery is physically identical to the OEM battery, charges at the same rate, measured with the dual charger that K&F also offers which includes visual displays of the charge rates for each battery in the charger. The record time is roughly the same as OEM, and is subject to ambient heat, much like the OEM unit. The waterproof flange is robust, and the camera maintains waterproofness fine with this replacement.

Great replacement for the Insta360 branded batteries! I’ve tested this against the original Insta360 x5 battery and there isn’t a noticeable difference in run time or operating temperatures during my testing. The color doesn’t perfectly match the case of the insta360 like the original battery does, but for me this is actually a good thing as I can quickly tell which battery is in the camera by a simple glance.

Dimensionally it’s identical to the original batteries so it installs into the camera without issue, making it great for ease of use.

The added case is great so there is no concern of damaging the battery when tossing it in my luggage and the ability to hold extra memory cards is a great perk.
