This tripod is a great lightweight and compact option for setting up disco lights or other small lighting equipment. It’s easy to carry, quick to set up, and doesn’t take up much storage space.

The stand holds disco lights securely and provides good height adjustment for directing lighting where needed. However, because it’s lightweight and especially when its at its maximum height it wouldn’t take much to knock over if bumped, especially with heavier lights attached, so it’s best kept out of walkways or busy areas.

When I first received this 78" K&F Concept Aluminum Light Stand, I considered what might be the best use case for this unusual piece of gear. The thing is, it's only rated for 2.2 pounds worth of equipment. I would not trust a strobe on it, especially extended, which leaves things like smart phones, speedlights, and reflectors. And being such a small size (17 inches folded), it's easy to stow away in my backpack as a just-in-case option. I've even used it to hold a small mirrorless camera and lens in the default (non-extended) position, acting like a bigger tabletop tripod. This came in handy when I needed to take in some night time cityscapes. Note that I would not entrust it with a camera in any of its extended positions. The locking mechanism is a bit dodgy as it relies solely on twisting the center column, which is a bit finicky and prone to human error. And in the event that even a slight bump could cause the lock to fail, the vertical column(s) would crash down instantly as there are no air or spring cushions inside.

It's definitely made for light duty work, but being as small and portable as it is, it functions quite well in that capacity. You'll take it with you because you can. And all it takes to set up is to find a hard surface (e.g. the floor or a table) and press the bottom button firmly against it. The legs pop open and viola. You could also just use your fingers. Carpet won't do it though.

It's a solidly built little stand with a few minor quirks, but still has that familiar K&F Concept quality for a fairly reasonable price. If you're an on-the-go photographer this might be something worth looking into.

Once I got the hang of opening this and the twisted locking mechanism, I found this to be an excellent compact stand. It's lightweight but very well made, I'd say the column is all metal with the mechanisms heavy duty fiberglass. It extends to taller than me, over 6 foot I recon, and I'd say this is perfect for putting an action camera in the corner of the room on it. I wouldn't really want to put a heavier light or camera on it because of the small footprint the feet take up, however it's not for that. I probably wouldn't just it outside unless the feet has a weight put on them. So long as you use the correct tool for the job, this small tripod light stand will be great. I think it's great value for money and want a second one for my other action camera.

I like K&F products and this one is decent. Too lightweight for anything heavier than a speedlight but works great for that. Since these are so light, I wouldn't trust them outside either. One minor breeze and there goes your speedlight. It is stable enough to provide a sturdy platform indoors. Using aluminum in the title is a little deceiving since most of it is plastic. It does store pretty well which makes it ideal in some situations to take it with you. It is somewhat versatile since it has a 1/4-20 thread on the head. You can place speedlights or small LEDs when doing video. Again, I wouldn't put anything too heavy on this since it would not be stable. As long as you can accept the limitations, it is a good product and worth the money. There are too many negatives to give it 5 stars, but it is a solid 4-star product.

I bought this 78" aluminum photography light stand mainly for mounting lights and occasionally my Nikon D800 with the 16-35mm f/4 lens, and it handles the setup beautifully. The weight capacity is more than enough – my camera + lens combo is well-supported without any wobble, even when extended. I wasn't sure how much I was going to like this but it's really fun to use. I like how simple it is but very useful. You can slightly loosen/unlock the orange rotating locking knob and then you can simply press the stand on the ground and the feet push out. That is a smart release system. Great for small lights, cameras and phones. I've paired it with a magsafe adapter to quickly put my phone on the stand wherever I go for quick photos.

Picked this up for volleyball tournaments. I stream and record my daughter's games and in some venues the space to set up a traditional tripod is almost impossible. This tripod has a super small footprint when deployed.

Small footprint of ~20" when open makes it a lot less likely it will be kicked.

Adjustable height by simply twisting the sections.

Each section can be fully adjusted as well, meaning they don't need to be fully extended to lock.

Quick tap on the ground and the legs open. Lift it and then the legs will fully deploy.

Compact and easy to travel with since it is only ~17" when closed

Adjustable angle for the camera.

When fully extended you may have a bit of sway if you put a heavy camera on it. I did my action camera and iPhone and they were fine. Not sure how it will handle the weight of a light but for my purposes, it's perfect.

Overall, I am happy with this tripod. I will still carry my larger, taller one but will be glad I have this in the bag when the time comes and there is no space. K&F makes quality products for a reasonable price. 5 stars.

Light weight light stand. Aluminum on nearly everything as advertised, if I'm not mistaken. At least I could not find any ferrous material with a magnet. Even the 1/4" x 20 "universal camera" thread was non-magnetic. I suspect that is of 304 or 308 stainless. This thing sets up with a tap on the floor and a couple of twists of your wrist. Clever. Nearly everything that needs to be twisted has machined textures except the central shaft(s) and they have two manufacturing longitudinal seams that provide a grip.

I tried it on a variety of lights, and it worked well on everything except a studio strobe. It held the weight, but the light weight of the stand and the heavier weight of the studio strobe made it feel very top heavy and made me feel very uneasy. If I am taking a fill light on a shoot, this will work well and it doesn't weigh down your camera bag. I can recommend this stand.
