- i prefer duct seal putty to caulk for something like this. you won't have to re-do it in a few years like you probably will with caulk.
- also put a dab of silicone caulk around the usb port after you've plugged in the cable.
- if you're hanging them on or near the soffit, sometimes coming in through the attic and out your soffit is a pretty easy option.
- that way, the hole is underneath the eave and water infiltration is less of an issue.
- when drilling from outside to inside for a wire, always drill the hole at a slight up angle, then water can’t run along the wire into the house should the sealant fail.
