I consider myself a serious amateur photographer at best. I don't like to carry a bunch of camera gear with me, especially if it's for a specialized purpose. As I shoot with a DSLR, it's pretty easy to acquire too much stuff.

I hadn't ever used an ND filter before, so when I needed one to partake in our camera club challenge, I started shopping on Amazon. After checking out several sets of varying single density filters, I ran across this variable density filter. It looked interesting and the price was pretty decent, so I ordered it.

It arrived very quickly and was nicely packaged. The filter comes in its own case with padding, so it's well protected.

With my initial inspection I was impressed. The threading is very slick and smooth, and fit nicely onto both of my lenses with the 67mm diameter threads.

Since it's variable, the filter turns to lighten and darken the ND effect. The filter turns very smoothly in either direction, yet is tight enough so that it stays where you leave it.

As for its performance, I feel like it does a really good job. During my experimenting with it, I was able to get quite a few different results with each subject I was photographing. I played with various manual settings while changing the density of the filter, and was pleased with the outcome.

The only thing I would say to be careful with using this filter is the width of your lens if you're using a wide angle, either zoom or fixed focal length. When I was wide out I did notice that the ND effect showed a slight difference in its effect from one side of the photo to the other. It wasn't a huge difference, but enough to notice. I would simply recommend not going too wide when using it.

Based on the quality of the materials and build, the overall results, and the price, I would definitely recommend this for your photographic use.

You can’t beat this nd filter for the price. It’s built well and comes with a protective case and gives you variable stops of nd that you can change on a whim. Usually cheaper nd filters like these have an x cross that displays over the lens but this one doesn’t as far as I know. Definitely recommend for a budget nd filter.

The filter is well made and easy to use. There are no hard stops, but there are markings on the side of the filter. Performance is good for this price range. There is some loss of sharpness at high light reduction settings, but for hobby photographers I don't think it's that bad. This is affordable and is a good entry into variable ND filters.

I am using this with an anamorphic lens and it works great. A perfect set of "sunglasses" so that I can keep the aperture at the desired setting. When looking at filters these days K&F is my instinctual "go-to". Given the quality, cost, and selection they offer, there is little reason to look any further.

I picked up this K&F Variable ND2-400 Lens filter for several of my lenses @ 82mm. It's a bit of a beefy filter with the fit and finish being excellent. When placing the filter onto any lens I first rotate the filter counter-clockwise until it feels flush with the lens then I twist it clockwise, tightening the ND onto the lens. Moving from each stop just takes a slight twist of the filter which has grooves in the twisting portion to make it easier to change stops.

Testing:
Going through all the stops on a tripod the color varies very little until you get to 8-9 stops, which can always be corrected in post. The filter doesn't lose much in quality of sharpness at the lower ranges of the ND but as you creep above 5 stops you begin to lose quality.

Overall, if you're looking for a good budget ND filter, this one will definitely work and not break the bank, I'd just watch out for using it in extreme circumstances where you need to go above -6 stops.

Does not seem to put much of a color cast on the image, it is clearly marked and smooth. It is a must have for shooting outdoors while maintaining shallow DOF. Fits Lumix L mount primes.

I am am amateur and just take picture for fun. I know you can purchase these type of filters for hundreds of dollars which I would never do. This one allows me to reduce light in bright settings and for a value price. Also
I can adjust the brightness level as needed.

Out of all of the inexpensive photography brands, K&F Concept is one of the best as far as I am concerned. I'm certain the filters aren't as good as other brands that are 2 or 3 times the price of this, but their products are really great for what they are charging for them. This lens filter is no different. Just make sure you check your filter size before ordering.

K&F has been quietly making some good camera accessories and this is no different. I have several of K&F filters and camera accessories and I have always been impressed with their budget price and good quality. While I haven't tested this in the field, this filter is well constructed and the variable ring works well. When moving the ring, you can clearly see the density level going from one degree to another. It fits my Sony FE sense quite well. Overall I am happy with its quality and price.
