I hadn't realized you had to pick 4 or 8 star patterns I thought it was a combination of 4 & 8 stars in one filter. Still, the filter does a okay job and I'll add it to my pack of night filters and take out the 8 point star filter. It does seem to work okay for a combination filter. It is glass a filter, there are a lot of plastic filters showing up for sale I prefer glass the best.

K&F have made a great many quality filters - and I have a lot of them - this is no less in quality than all of their other stuff. Very nice glass.

This is a filter for creating a starburst effect.

This filter is larger than normal because it has an adjustable ring on it for adjusting the effect.

I found it to be a neat way to achieve this look (see attached photo) without using software.

It comes in a plastic hard shell case with three cleaning cloths.

You have to be careful about turning the outer ring to make adjustments. I didn’t realize it but I was actually unscrewing the filter from my lens at first.

Overall this is a good filter for the effect, but you need to dial in just the right amount of starburst or it looks weird.

I watch David Jeremiah on tv and they have one angle that uses one of these filters and it really is a great look. I pulled my camera out a GH5 and Shot this by hand I Should have used a tripod but I know Ill have more opportunities since Space X is launching rockets nearly every week. Next time I want to be closer than 45 miles south. And This fits only one of my lenses but I do have adapters to put it on one of my zoom lens. It makes the rocket launch sparkle . I can see how this can be used for weddings and other occasions the need that extra touch. I did rotate the filter to show the 4 to 8 points. It's really a great look . I love having the ability to do stuff in the field that allows me change the look organically and not with a digital fake filter look . Another tool for the kit.

I like this filter for certain situations where I need to capture in camera. It is well made and well packaged. I love that the stars are variable depending on a twist of the outer ring. I do have to admit that I more often leave it in my bag, knowing that I can add it in post. BUT, for what I know I Need a certain effect in camera, this is my go to.

As with all value special effects lens filters, this isn't going to be for top optical quality. It's for when the special effects will enhance the overall picture so that doesn't matter.

That means you have to experiment and think about your use case, because it's not going to work well in a lot of situations. You need point light sources, often in otherwise dark or dim environments.

There's a prismatic (color-separating) effect I wasn't expecting in the starburst lines. It's welcome, though.

It's pretty easy to twist the outer part of the filter to go from aligned to crossed filter lines, for 4- or 8-pointed starbursts. If there are a lot of lights or they're close together, 8-pointed starbursts will probably be overwhelming. That's where I see the value in being able to switch it up on the fly.

I also recommend experimenting with your camera settings to see when you get banding of the starbursts and when you don't. I took quick sample pics with my cellphone, so they're not representative of what you can do.

I quite like filters like this for the right purpose; I plan to use this one when there are fairy or holiday lights in the background or foreground (behind or in front of my subject).

One of the reasons I use a certain 15mm lens is for the very attractive sunstars in certain use-cases. But there are times I'd love to have them with longer lenses, and until I got this filter it was a job for Photoshop.

This filter works great! The prominence and appearance is variable, which is way useful. And when I don't want 'em I don't use it. With the step down rings I already have, it fits most of my moderately wide to tele lenses.

For the price, it's a no-brainer for anyone serious about having creative options in their photo work.

though the light affect this gives you can achieve it in deviance resolve, Lightroom and photoshop, this filter does the job well. it creates the majestic light affect that star affect nice and clean.

I'm fairly pleased with this filter but find that it does have its limitations. Very bright direct light, ie. the Sun, invariably leads to a pronounced degree of prismatic effect in the starbursts. This, obviously, is no problem when shooting or editing to black and white. I also noticed a "broken line" pattern when shooting in Program mode that disappears when shooting in Auto. The conversion of 8-point to 4-point stars is achieved by a turn of the outer ring and a near-perfect overlay alignment for a 4-point star is easily possible. I find a more pleasing effect is derived from low-intensity light sources (candles, small dim lights). I think using a soft filter in conjunction with this would be ideal. As with any filter, much experimentation is required in order to find the sweet spots that will work best for you and your equipment. I find that the lens cap of my Sony RX10 IV is not very secure on this filter, but I rarely leave filters attached long-term anyway. This filter, as with all the K&F Concept filters I have, is well-built, sturdy, and affordable.

If you hold the filter up just right, you can see the grid. It's completely invisible though when it's on the camera.

The light effects that it create have beautiful rainbow colors that make it look unlike any other I've seen. It's especially amazing on rows of LED's.

It doesn't seem to add any hue, tones, or shade.

Overall a great fun filter.

Highly recommended.
