I got this to test and used it on a cloudy day, not on purpose but thats the day the first time I tried it. It made the images awesome and normal, if not a little warm but waaay better than in reality. Curious how it works on a sunny day. Definitely will use on cloudy Grey or blue days

Love it! Great quality filter that adds a very subtle vintage feel to photos without looking artificial. It softens the light beautifully, makes sunlight more interesting, and gives images a more cinematic look. Exactly the effect I was hoping for. Highly recommend!

It's subtle, but coupled with a Porta 400 film sim on my XH2, it's just perfect. works best on whites and warm tones!

The K&F Gold Diffusion Filter provides a method for photographers to create a warm appearance in images during the capturing process. It avoids the need for extensive post processing software. In the past the user utilised black mist filters to lower the sharp appearance of digital sensors - but the gold color of this 1/4 strength version produces a specific warm effect during times when the sun is low in the sky. To test the product, the user attached it to a lens for weeks. It is evident that the filter causes highlights to spread outward, while the darker areas of the image remain clear. Because the frame consists of thin aviation aluminum, there is no darkening at the corners of the frame even at wide angles.

As is expected from the Nano X series, the glass does not lower the clarity of the focus points. When a person uses the filter, skin appears even because the glass softens small lines and marks. At the same time the filter preserves the visible details in the hair and the eyes. It is easy to screw the device onto lens threads. Due to the multi layer coating, the filter prevents light from bouncing internally or creating secondary images when the lens points toward a light source. For portrait work, the filter is a consistent tool that provides a visual style similar to physical film. And since the build is sturdy, the equipment is a regular part of the camera kit now.

Awesome filter

This is really great filter that is obviously of great quality.

I got it to fit my Nikkor 85 1.8 lens and it produces beautiful images! The filter itself fits perfect, and installs very easily, by just screwing on to the front of the lens. It honestly doesn't get any easier than that and is the standard installation for all good filters.

The photos, as you'll see in my review, come out really nice and "glowy". If you look at my photo of my ceiling can light without the filter and then another with it off, you'll see what I mean by "glowy". I'm also sharing pics of my dog on a sunny day while hanging on our shaded balcony. You can also see the glowing effect.

I don't think I'd use it for everything, but I sure am glad to have it in my inventory! I could see it being especially useful going for nostalgic vibes. Really love the filter - great value for the money!

If you find modern sensors too "sterile" or sharp, this Gold Diffusion filter is the antidote. I’ve used black mist for a few years, but the gold diffusion here provides a much more flattering warmth for skin tones, especially in bright, natural light. Easy to install and remove when needed, no sticking to your lens.

Pros:
Beautiful highlight bloom with a warm, vintage bias.
Excellent build quality (typical of the X-Series).
Great for taming harsh "midday" light in outdoor environments.

Cons:
Slightly higher price point, but the optical glass quality justifies it.

I requested it because it seemed like an interesting filter to play around with for portrait photography - I've used a black mist diffusion filter, and a rose glow one, but not gold.

It is a high-quality piece with a robust build and glass that is free of marks or scratches. The gold flecking throughout creates a nice shine. The thread mount works without any issues (I used it on one of my Lumix lenses). Although it is not marketed for this purpose, it would provide good protection for the main lens.

While it is easy to use, the effect it creates is very subtle. When I use a rose glow filter, there is an obvious pink cast and softening of skin tones, but it was actually quite hard for me to detect much of a difference with this one. I even held it up to a bright light, and couldn't see any blooming or halo effect. What it does do is slightly brighten darker tones and reduce contrast - this could be seen on photos I took of my family members (with and without the filter, for comparison).

In summary, it's an interesting item, but the effect is subtle enough that you wonder if you can achieve the same effect in post-edit, without the need for the filter. It is on the expensive side.

Product arrived promptly and free of damage or defect.

I have used K&F products before so I decided to try this. With today high res sensor being a tad too sharp (and sterile) for my taste a little diffusion is sometimes welcome, for the right situation / project / shot.

PROS:

+ Ads a little "dream" to your shot
+ Takes the edge out of sterile sharp looking images
+ Ads that "je ne sais quoi" golden glow :) for a warmer "in camera" look
+ Great packaging. I love the rubber ridge insert to prevent the lens from moving inside the hard case (see photo)
+ Well coated

CONS:

- Be sure this is the look you want cause once you hit the shutter, the look is baked in. Can't remove it in post (well at least not successfully LOL)
- As with many large size filters, this filter is NOT cheap and its uses are somewhat limited so proceed only if that IS the look you want AND you can afford to tie down around $100 of your budget to get it.

VERDICT:

I love dreamy footage so for me this is a GO!

This review is an accurate assessment of this product at the time review was written. Should I encounter any issues with this product in the future, I will add an update.

I have used black mist and also soft white diffusion filters in my photography but until this came up I never knew there was such a thing as gold diffusion so I wanted to give this a try and see if it works. The overall quality of the filter is very good before you even put this on your camera you can see the gold specks on the filter and I can confirm this works and works extremely well.

This filter will largely depend on the lighting to get the best effects but if you get it right you get that golden glow/cinematic look, it looks far better than I thought it would I will say now this is not a filter I will have on my camera all the time or even use it on a regular basis BUT this is another look I can add to my pictures when the time is right and the filter is in my small pack of filters I have in my camera bag all the time.

When you have the filter on your lens the images have that dreamy/creamy look to them so the images are not super sharp but if you wanted sharp images you would not use this or any kind of mist filter this softens the image BUT don’t get me wrong your images will still look amazing.

Overall I am happy with the gold diffusion and I feel it is a fair price for the look/effect it gives your images.
