Sturdy. Reliable.
This thing is AWESOME! I didn't know I need it so badly!!! I got it because I needed a new ball mount to use with my phone and found out that it holds my Canon R50 with ease. I've even mounted an extension that's about 8" long onto this mount, turned it 90 degrees pointing straigh up in the aire, with the magnetic plate on a vertical surface of desk mount for a computer monitor, holding the camera so that it directly above the desk for a bird's eye shot.
It unscrews from the magnetic base, so you can post stuff on your fridge, and mount the ball on a tripod or other 1/4-20 threaded apparatus, the mounting surface converts from a threaded baseplate to a cell phone holder just by pushing it a few inches. I'm thrilled with how much the ball mount can take. It's easier to move the computer monitor's swivel head that was tightened with a wrench than the ball mount. I've also inverted it and it's perfectly stable. I have not tried driving with it on the outside of the car, yet, but that may be the next adventure.
