The first thing to notice when you take this out of the box is that it's really solidly built. The ball joint and its tightening screw are well damped and smoothly adjustable, and there's no movement when the screw is fully tightened. The camera-connecting screw is similarly well built with a handy protective cover. And the magnetic base attaches to any solid metal surface with a satisfying clunk (but more of that later).

The next thing to notice is that there are no instructions, either printed in the box or (as far as I can see) on the K&F Concept website. Which means that setting it up to use with a smartphone something of a puzzle. The only description of how to do it that I have found is in the videos on this very Amazon page. There are two little arrows on the side of the base marked "Push" but they're practically invisible in anything other than direct light. And pulling is actually easier than pushing.

Anyway, once you've worked it out you've got a very sturdy magnetic mount that grips your camera tightly and is firm and well engineered.

I don't have an action camera to test out the third mounting option, but I have no doubt it's a strong and fit for purpose as the other two.

My only slight concern is with the magnetic base. It is claimed to support handheld cameras up to 3kg - I tried it very cautiously with a camera and zoom lens weighing just over 1kg and I don't think it would take a great deal more, especially if the underlying surface isn't perfectly flat.

Handy if you need to keep your camera or phone steady and you don't have a tripod with you. But it's not much use without a firm, flat steel/iron surface to attach it to.
