I set my expectations somewhat low with this, as numbers like '150000RPM' and '54m/s' had me thinking the performance claims were exaggerated nonsense.

However I've been absolutely blown away (HaHa) by the performance of this. You have to readjust your expectations from things like hairdryers and heat guns; this is a completely different beast. It's like a jet engine in your hand. You can actually feel the thrust it's producing as you ramp up the power output. No wonder they use these kinds of motors in EDF RC planes.

Something I also didn't anticipate was a reasonable feeling of quality across the whole kit. The main unit has a gorgeous visual design, a pleasing finish and colours, minimalistic branding and markings. It has a reassuring weight. There is a metal mesh with a hexagonal pattern over the intake and you can see the metal blades of the turbine motor through it. It doesn't look cheap in any way.

Basically whoever designed this cared about the fine details and absolutely nailed it.

Even without the narrowing attachments it makes light work of blowing away surface dust. The noise output is actually much lower than I expected; high-pitched but not at all annoying or piercing as I'd assumed.

The tactile power button must be pressed to power on (and three times to switch to suction/reverse mode), so it's not easy to accidentally enable the motor. Once powered, a smooth sliding switch controls power fairly precisely. Overall a very well-considered design and very satisfying to interact with.

The claimed USB type-c charging speed is 10W. I found it to draw 7W with a ~60% full battery, so that sounds reasonable. Given the form-factor I don't doubt that it's using 18650 cells as claimed. I haven't tested run-times, but this is not the sort of device you're going to be using for hours on end.

The provided accessories are generous and (while mostly just plastic funnels) have the same decent quality as the main unit. The soft pouch is a welcome addition; as are the (embossed!) microfibre cloths.

Given the attractive box, pleasing visual design and provided accessories, it's pretty clear this was intended to be (and would make) a fantastic gift for someone.

I would have preferred it not to have a rubberised surface, as they always perish over time; similarly I'd like the 18650 cells to be accessible and replaceable to extend the lifetime of the device; but these are relatively minor complaints.

This has become one of my new favourite things.
