I suspect it may have more effect with a wide angle lens.
I have been using it on a 100mm f/2.8 and have struggled to get optical differences (the intent after all).
Even shooting into a low setting sun yielded minimal results as for the 'shimmer' aspect (see image).
Even so, it does make for a pleasant mist effect...and if that is what K&F means...I give it 4 stars...it does do that very well... a softening of light and focus...ever so slightly.
Portrait work will benefit from this lens. As for landscape...yes and no...depending on the user.
I may have to get used to it more, and try it on my 50mm coming in the post.
But I do like the filter, and it is worth the coin asked.

This filter is well made, and I love the effect. Unfortunately, my camera has been sitting unused for a while, and the battery died before I could get a picture.
But what I saw in those few second was very exciting! I'll update this review once the batteries are charged and I get a chance to put it through its paces.

I shoot many daytime events and have found it advantageous to add a 1/2 black diffusion filter to the mix. The K&F diffusion filter has a very similar effect. In bright sun, it softens complexion, reduces contrast, and can add a satisfying glow to backlit hair. And most importantly, it makes my photographs stand out from stark, contrasty mobile phone photos. The shimmer filter gives the photograph a subtle cinematic look. It has a slightly more pronounced look than the black diffusion filter.
As with all Neewer filters, the ring is well-constructed and easily screws on my well-worn lenses. There is a large knurling on the rim for a good grip. And the optical quality is on par with more expensive filters for a fraction of the price. The K&F Concept Shimmer filter comes with K&F wipes, which I keep in my location bag. It also comes in a standard filter case.

K&F filters are fairly new to me I actually purchased some for the solar eclipse and they worked so well I had purchased other ones. This is no different. It is a niche filter that works well for is intended purpose. When I think about its effect it kind of reminds me of a more subtle dream sequence you would see in movies. It works well with plenty of light. It definitely works in certain situations and makes for a more interesting photo. A good well constructed filter with a pleasant aesthetic that is worth a spot in your camera bag.

I have a few of the K&F filters and have never had a problem with the product but on my last Amazon purchase I ordered a 58mm filter and the wrong sized filter arrived in a dirty box. While I was trying to sort it with Amazon the refund system asked me to contact Kentfaith. On doing so I received a fast response and another was sent. Kentfaith customer service is great and will support you if you have any issues.

Good for short focal length lenses as the imperfections it adds to make the effect will be exaggerated on longer lenses, making your photos look unfocused.

This has added a nice glowing look with a bit of softness to the highlights. I use it for video work, and the occasional photo when you want that dreamy look to your subject or scene. Something different to keep in the kit and capture it in camera instead of "doing it in post". This way you know what you're getting and it looks more natural. We have a movie coming up and this will work great for one of the scenes.
I have several lenses that this fit perfectly to. I was able to use a stepdown for my 24mm lens as well. Order big and step down to where you need.

In my attached photos you can see the amount of extra hazy softness you can get out of this filter. Canon R5C adapted to 135L, set to f3.5, 1/50s, ISO 200. First shot is without the filter, second shot is with it. No changes in settings and no adjustments in post other than what Capture One does on import.
The entire scene ends up taking on a hazy tone, and not even those areas that are in critical focus retain crisp detail.

This is a great filter to have for photographers, and videographers. It creates a nice effect, but honestly it feels very similar to a white mist filter. Either way this is a great filter to keep in your bag.
I prefer to use this for my photography work. The effect removes some of the fine details from the skin and eliminates some post work for me. It installs on to a lens just like any other screw on filter and can be stacked for more effects.
