I needed a variable neutral density filter for an upcoming solar eclipse and this did the job. By rotating the two filter elements against each other, the filter goes from just visible to almost black. And this flexibility gave me the ability to capture the eclipse easily and without much guesswork.

Works as advertised. It's a KF filter. I have never received a bad product from them.

There is no way I would have been able to capture the annular solar eclipse without this filter.

I purchased this product due to the chaos of editing an outdoor wedding without one. Bought immediately. Screws perfectly onto my Sigma 18-35 and works great for me. The case it comes in seems a bit cheap, but it's not bad. Slim, unobtrusive and with excellent work performance. I recommend it to anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 who enjoys outdoor activities.

learned more about photography and over time I improved my skills as an amateur photographer. I have worked with other types of filters, particularly CPL and FL-D filters, but so far I have never worked with ND filters. I've been able to get good results with it and am happy with this filter so far, although I know I still need to learn more about it. A neutral density filter is used to reduce the light reaching the aperture without messing with the colors too much. This allows you to be creative with shutter speeds. This particular filter is adjustable and rotates to the front of the lens body, allowing the photographer to increase or decrease the level of filtering. At the lowest setting, the filter barely filters; When the filter is set to the maximum filter level, very little light passes through and a moiré pattern is created. I therefore do not recommend setting the filter to this level. To get a feel for how well this filter works, I took my camera outside as a large thunderstorm approached and took a few pictures of one of the cloud formations. I chose two images from this set, one where I didn't use the filter and one where I used it at about 1/4 strength. Although the filter reduces light intensity evenly, the color contrast in the filtered image is much more pronounced and obvious. The most common use for this type of filter is to reduce light levels and then shoot a longer exposure for a scene with movement, such as a waterfall. This is a very nice filter and I couldn't be happier with it. It's very easy to use and works really well. Disclaimer: I was provided a sample of this product in exchange for a fair, honest and thorough review. Even though I received this product for free, I have reviewed and reviewed it unbiasedly and solely based on my experience with it.

ended up using it for a commercial shoot with a Toronto-based photographer and was extremely happy with how the shots turned out. I read a review that said the colors had turned yellow and that a problem was expected, but nothing like that happened. Shot with a Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. Note that the only correction made to these photos was an exposure and a slight change in saturation.
Great filter for the price Great filter for the price

This is a handy little guy for the point-and-shoot tourist. I used it to photograph the total solar eclipse in Marshall, Missouri, with moderate success, in my opinion as an amateur (you can judge by the attached photo). I'll definitely use it more for sky and horizon shots.
