52mm Gold Streak Effect Lens Filter (2mm) Anamorphic Optical Glass Light Flare Effect Filter for Camera Lens Nano-Xcel Series

This product from K&F CONCEPT IS A 52 MM GOLD streak anamorphic lens flare look alike. This acts as a substitute for actual anamorphic light distortion. But does not recreate the wide angled low fisheye lens distortion of an actual lens of this type.

The whole concept is simple enough to understand. Two peaces of pristine glass with light refraction coatings. With gold filaments sandwiched between them. This is how the look of the flares is achieved.
When the camera focuses on distant objects the filament is blurred and all highlights passing in front of them will be refracted. Traditionally there were only two types of these on the market. A warm golden coloured one and a blue filament one. Now in the new market there are many different types of colours to choose from.

The caveats:
The lens flares can get overwhelming when filming at night time. Especially with cars and light posts it might be a bit distracting depending on the kind of shot you are looking for. In some cases the light streaks will look small and broken as shown on the picture above. This is do in part to how far away you are from you're subject and the depth of field used.

This is a fantastic alternative to adding lens flares in post production, saving you time and money. Although, not as convincing as the real thing. It gets the job done and can really make you're productions stand out from the pack. Especially if you are going for a futuristic or sci-fi look. This will enhance the visual tone of certain shots. Bringing a bolder look to you're cinematography. 5 out of 5 for me. This is going to stay in my gig bag for sure.

This filter allows you to create some stunning effects, but I highly recommend getting a magnetic adapter so you can easily remove it, as the effect isn’t suited for every scene or photo.

The filter’s impact is most noticeable at night or in high-contrast situations, like a rainy evening. I’m excited to take it to DC or NYC on a rainy night to explore its full potential. The gold wires running across the filter can be rotated (like a polarizing filter) and are safely embedded inside the glass, protecting them from smudging or damage.

the only reason this isn't a 5 star review is there isn't much of a way to dial down the effect without removing the lens entirely.

This gold streak filter is perfectly packaged.

The filter itself feels very premium, and spins onto my lens effortlessly.

The gold streak provided by the filter on light sources will be very useful when trying to achieve a certain effect on some of my photos.

I have quite a few K & F products, filters mainly, in my collection and this latest one is of the same high standard engineering and optically-wise as the others. It comes in a cardboard box with the actual filter inside its own plastic screw-on protective/storage case. I have the 77mm size - it fits the filter thread on my Canon 14-40mm lens really smoothly as I expected as their engineering is first class as I have found with their other products. In use I have it mounted on my 5D 11 plus tripod and so far my efforts are looking okayish - it’s really down to me as I am still experimenting and will add images on here when I am happy with end result otherwise it degrades the product, which is first class, to my mind.

Nicely made, and feels quality.
Effect is a little subtle in certain situations, but produces some pretty nice flares.
Screws on and off easily and feels durable.
I use it for warmer colored flares when I want a little added spice, and it works nice!

It does a good job of flaring point lighting from just outside the frame, depending on your lens and focal length you won’t see any bars or repeating, it’ll just be one golden streak. The color can’t be changed no matter what color of light you throw at it. Doesn’t replace anamorphic lenses, not even close, but for what it is it’s nice.

Just like the blue streak lens filter this gold streak lens filter excels at night. I shoot film photography and the shots I get with this gold streak lens filter at night are just simply fantastic. Especially when I'm taking pictures of brighter neon or LED signs the gold streak filter makes the image just look simply stunning. This has become hands down one of my favorite lens filters for nighttime photography especially in the city. Overall, I very highly recommend this lens filter to any photographer looking to up their nighttime photography game.

This company makes high quality everything and the price is so much more reasonable. Sure, you can recreate this digitally, but it never looks quite right. Give these a shot to add a little flair.
