58mm Black Mist 1/4 & CPL Filter 2 in 1 Black Diffusion Circular Polarizing Effect Filter with 18 Multi-Layer Coatings Nano-Klear Series

I was pretty impressed by both the presentation of the filter and the quality. It is very well made and comes in a protective plastic box. Also included are three microfibres cloths which I thought was a really nice addition. The filter itself is a circular polarising filter and the effect can be adjusted by rotating teh filter. I really like the effect and really bings out colours on bright days.

This filter does exactly what it advertises. It is a nice metal-framed, glass filter that is machined exact so it is tight but the polarizing element can be turned easily and also stays where it is turned to. Comes with three microfiber cleaning cloths. One cleaning cloth will fit in the case, which is padded with neoprene inside of the hard plastic case and protects the filter well. Giftable and a quality item.

This filter fits my 58mm cannon lens, It gives a soft misty slightly out of focus feel to photos. The threads are clean and it screws on smoothly.

I played around with this filter at a Renaissance Fair and was very pleased with the results. It kind of blows out the whites without taking away from the blacks and general contrast of the rest of the composition. I haven't shot anything at night because I haven't been in a good area for it but that is what I'm really looking forward to. Street signs and lights bleeding into the environment for that cinematic look. The filter is solid quality and I really like that. It has a CPL function. Very easy to twist and it is threaded so you could add another filter to the top if you wanted to.

The black diffusion filter is a subtle but effective misting effect most easily seen when photographing specular reflections or lights.

It's a great tool for adding a slightly filmic look to digital photos.
I plan on using it for a lot of my fashion and beauty work, and may pick up a second one for my other lens.

I am using the &F Concept 82mm Black Diffusion 1/4 & Circular Polarizing Filter with my mirrorless camera. I had not previously worked with black diffusion filters, so it was interesting to see the effect produced. I read that diffusion-filter effects are most noticeable at night with light sources in the frame, and this filter’s effects were most noticeable on light sources photographed in low light. I also noticed this filter seems to generate a slight greenish cast in some areas of an image. I was able to easily correct the greenish cast in Lightroom but left the attached photos uncorrected to show the slight greenish cast. This is another great filter from K&F Concept that comes at a reasonable price. I plan to make use of it, but I am rating it 4 stars instead of 5, due to the slight greenish cast.

To test the polarization provided by the filter, I took three photos of swimming pool water with my camera set to ISO 100 and aperture mode (f6.3.) I took the first photo without the filter, a second photo with the filter in place, but rotated to minimize the polarization, followed by a third photo with the filter rotated to maximize polarization. In both photos where the filter was used, the underwater sunlight ripples on the side of the pool seemed to be sharper than the no-filter photo, and both photos were slightly brighter (possibly due to shutter speed changes when using the filter.) Shadows in the second photo (minimal polarization) had a slightly greenish cast relative to both the “no filter” and “maximum polarization” photos.

I then shot two photos indoors of stuffed animal toys, with daylight coming in from a window on the left side of the subjects. The photos were taken using ISO 100 and aperture mode (f4) with the focus point on the nose of the lion. Rotating the filter to change the polarization made little difference as the indoor light had minimal stray lighting for the polarization to remove. The photo with the filter in place had a greenish cast most pronounced in the silvery background. The filter also had a very slight softening affecting in the fur of the animals – more noticeable in the lion than the other two toy animals. The fur on the lion and the bear in the filter photo were also warmer-in-tone than in the no-filter photo.

I then took two more photos showing ceiling LED lights in relatively low light with the camera at ISO 800 and aperture of f5.6. Once again polarization did not come into play, but the diffusion effect was very pronounced for the light sources. There was a slight greenish cast when the filter was used, but this was easy to correct when editing in Lightroom.

One more thing I like about K&F Concept filters is that the filters always come packaged with K&F Concept microfiber cleaning cloths.

I've given this 4 stars because the CPL filter doesn't seem that effective, it doesn't work as well has my HAIDA CPL, but that cost three times the price of this.

The 'dreamy' or 'glow' element is very muted, but I like that. It gives a softer look rather than a harsh 'digital' look. I used this to record an interview and I noticed that the skin tones has slightly less detail and a more filmic look. I doubt I'll use this again for photos, but I am considering buying with for a larger lens to try on the big Leica lens I use for video as I found the look to be quite attractive - not too obvious, but I like that, I don't want anything that looks artifical.

If you're expecting a big difference in luminance blooming, or want a solid CPL filter, then you may feel disappointed, but if you want something to give a slight softness then this could be what you're after.

Good filter for the price. Being that it's a two-in-one filter it works good for both but doesn't excel in either. It is a black mist filter so it does add some softness so it's hard to tell how good the glass is. I typically use B+W filters, but for the use case (and especially the price) this works fine.

Great build quality as I've come to expect from K&F and the filter screws on and off easily. The coating seems to help with dust and smudges, but I'm extremely careful with my lenses so I don't have any definitive proof of its efficacy.

Overall definitely worth a purchase if you want to experiment with different looks!

The K&F brand of filters are what I primarily use for my Canon R6. The 67 mm fits several of my lenses and hence lends itself to a variety of uses. The filter is the screw-on type and not magnetic. The diffusion filter works well and adds to just the right level of softer focus for some of my landscapes and portraits in bright light. I typically use the Fv mode on the camera and adjusting to the filter was straightforward and worth it. I did however find that the circular polarizer to be a bit on the weaker side compared to K&F dedicated CP filter that I use. Likely a result of trying to combine both functionality in one filter.

Overall, I do find it quite useful and versatile and will carry it on my photo shoots and the price point of this filter as with all K&F filters is excellent.

*Update, K&F has promptly shipped another filter that was missing from my package. I feel Ike I should acknowledge their effort to fix this problem.
*Previously, the lens filter was not in the package. I only received three K&F lens wipes. No filter!
