Reviews
If you like to make videos and want to take a leap in quality, you have to have one of these without a doubt.
If you like video and get more professional effects in your productions, you have to have one of these.
If you are reading this it is because you more or less know what a gimbal is and if not, I will explain it to you.
It is a device that basically softens the movements that we can make with our camera or mobile and in this way ensure that our videos do not have jerks and are much more fluid and smooth, managing to greatly improve their quality.
This is done with 3 engines that are:
The Pan axis, which is the central one, the one that is on the wrist and that smoothes the movements to the right and left on the horizontal plane
The Tilt axis, which smoothes forward and backward movements. Heading back and forth.
And the Roll axis that is responsible for tilting movements to the right and left on the vertical axis.
With these three motors, and the different modes, the gimbal ensures that the image does not jerk.
With that said, let's start reviewing the gimbal.
The design seemed surprising and very daring. It is far from what is seen in gimbal of this price range and these characteristics. Normally the arm in other models folds. This time it's an arm that slides along the grab handle for mounting. Neither good nor bad, different... With this mechanism it is possible to have a very compact and foldable gimbal that allows us to be able to carry the gimbal on our trips and to be able to store it in a trouser bowl at any given time.
On the other hand the materials are very good and they look of quality. The design is also very attractive, going a little out of the norm and making the handle slightly displaced forward, which improves grip and thanks to its anatomical shape it can be handled better.
In the case of having large hands like me, it is preferable to use it with the tripod legs to be able to grip it better and to have better access to the buttons.
In the upper part we have a light that we can rotate and that would illuminate our faces due to the darkness in our VBlogs, improving their results. It's not very powerful, but it's enough. I liked this detail, it's the first time I've seen it and I thought it was a very interesting detail. In addition, we can turn it and put it both facing us and forward.
The buttons are typical of this type of device. The ignition that is ahead and that also gives us information about the state of the battery. The button or trigger that on this occasion is used to enter the F or Follow model if we leave it pressed, we do not have the Go or Sport function as in others and if we give it two quick presses we center the gimbal and if we give it 3 quick presses we go from vertical to horizontal position.
This is usually done by all these types of gimbals designed for Vlog, the only thing is that it makes the movements very smoothly and without sudden turns.
If we only press once, it starts the tracking of faces or objects.
I liked this.
On the left side, the zoom buttons that only work if we use the gimbal with the manufacturer's app. If you don't know, we can use the gimbal without further ado, placing it and centering it and thus stabilizing the videos... Or using the manufacturer's app that allows us to configure default movements as well as the motors and other characteristics of the gimbal. As a general rule, you will not use the app much unless you want to do some effect or object tracking.
In the front part, the mouse to be able to move the mobile and direct it where we want, and the button to go through the modes.
This time we have 4 modes on the keypad, PF, L, F and POW. The gimbal automatically starts in PF.
We also have on this front the button to start recording or take photos.
In general, we have the same buttons as all the gimbals on the market.
As for the user experience and how it works, and comparing it with others I've had and also designed for Vlog, I think it's very good.
Like the competing models, it makes the same movements as these and we also have the TILT axis moved to the right to be able to use the wide-angle camera and not see the gimbal arms.
I liked the smoothness with which it unfolds and despite or having the GO mode, I liked that the motors are vigorous and it has precise and powerful movements and in no case have I noticed fatigue or fainting, as in other models that gave the sensation that they could not with the mobile. The engines are very good indeed, they are tremors and good recoveries in the movements.
The autonomy is more than correct and I like that the charging port is by Type C.
The application is a bit polished and I would like it to have more functions and be a little more intuitive. Although this is easily remedied with an update and Zhiyun in this case is not guilty of not constantly updating its products.
