K&F Concept V Mount Battery, 99Wh Mini V-Mount Battery, 6700mAh 14.8V Support 65W PD USB-C Fast Charger, with D-TAP, USB-A, USB-C, BP, OLED Screen, for Cameras and Camcorders

I use V-mounts for my job every day so wanted to make sure when buying new ones I had the best. I tested 5 of the most popular v-mounts and thought i’d share my opinion to save you the hassle of going through the same. A lot of it is just that, my opinion, so a different battery might suit you better.

My choice: K&F Concept 99Wh PD65W version

RUN TIMES:
First of all I tested run times on a high drain camera and monitor. They all lasted within 5% of each other. So it’s safe to say this is not a consideration when testing. I did wonder if the larger ones would last longer but they were almost exactly the same draw. Perhaps cells might last longer over time but hard to quantify this in testing.

SIZES:
They are not all the same size. If size is important then they are ordered from largest to smallest in my image attached. They may only vary by 10% but to me that feels significant when carrying multiple batteries and wanting to reduce bulk - especially when you aren’t really gaining anything for the extra size.

Clearly important - I always like a deal however these were mostly Black Friday deals so not sure on actual prices so make your own decision when purchasing.

So to quickly run through the likes and dislikes of each (left to right in the image):

Likes:
- Well made, feels robust
- D-Tap port easy to get out
- 100W in/out as long as you have compatible charger
- Light on the back

Dislikes:
- Gloss screen - Easily scratched. Don’t understand this new solid black gloss look
- Screen takes 2 seconds to ‘load’ when not powered. Shows logo first before anything else. Doesn’t sound a long time but others are instant
- ON button is on the side, not the front like ALL others, so when on a multi-charger it’s not always accessible to check power status or even find the button as it’s also flush to the body
- Top flap for USB’s is impossible to get off. Takes at least 5 attempts to get your finger under and peel out. Biggest dislike for me!
- Only 1 D-tap…so why the bigger body and higher price? The 100W USB-C
- Largest AND heaviest

NEEWER Mini V Mount Battery 6800mAh 99Wh 
Likes:
- Nice all black finish
- Gloss screen looks nice (but WILL still get scratched) - better than K&F 100W though
- All ports super easy to access. Flaps not stiff
- Screen feels quite basic

Dislikes:
- Only 1 D-tap
- DC Output not useful for me and takes up space
- USB-C port on the side which may get annoying, Prefer top option or one each side
- 60W max USB-C
- Heavy compared to below

SONGING FXLION Wireless Nano Two
Likes:
- Only one with lights and screen. You get instant charge lights on button press with screen milliseconds afterwards. Very fast
- Rubber port covers fit well but see dislike
- Two top located d-taps
- Wireless charging for your phone - don’t see this often
- A good size - more blocky than the next two but a good compromise
- Nice design imo

Dislikes:
- Screen never stays on (biggest dislike)
- Rubber ports are very hard to get back flat, if you are stacking these next to each other they will catch and rip the port covers or at least bend them. Bent rubber is impossible to get back flat
- USB port take a while to get back in
- 60W max USB-C
- USB in Volts not Watts

K&F Concept V Mount Battery 99Wh (6700mAh) Mini V-Mount Battery with PD 65W (MY PICK)
Likes:
- Great size. Feels the smallest
- I love the plastic design with the triangle texture. Never keen on those gloss black plastic of nothing
- Screen stays on when in use
- Screen is tilted up not flat which i prefer when on a camera or monitor
- No DC ports (which i never use so happy to save the space)
- Has a minute counter which is pretty unique. Shows either minutes until drained at current power or minutes till charged. Pretty accurate too so impressed with this for the price.
- Screen shows everything on one page - Minutes remaining, Battery icon bar, Percentage charge, USB Voltages and Battery Voltage
- Cheapest of them all - got the best deal. Under £100 ex VAT.
- Feels well made, grips on both sides
- Ports are REALLY easy to get off and put back on. Harder plastic and makes a big difference.
- D-Tap on both sides which is a bonus considering the price

Cons:
- 60W USB-C in/out but rarely do I need 100W
- USB-C shows Volts not Watts
- Heard that K&F can be a ‘cheaper’ Chinese brand however so far so good…aren’t they all made in China anyway?

IDX IMICRO-98P Mini V-Mount Battery
Likes:
- Smallest battery of them all but only by a tiny amount - maybe 2mm compared to K&F
- Feels solid and good weight
- Port flaps are plastic not rubber so will go back on better
- Torch on back
- IDX are reputable in the industry and I still own IDX batteries from 10 years ago. Paying for the name and testing I would assume.
- 2 D-tap ports

Dislikes:
- No USBs
- D-Taps only on top
- Port flaps quite hard to get off - need nails
- No screen - only 5 lights for battery life
- Pretty basic battery
- More expensive than the others by far

For shooting video and still photography in remote locations I need to use equipment and power sources which are of sufficient quality and operate reliably. This K&F Concept V Mount Battery is sufficiently versatile for a wide range of power applications and in my experience it performs very well.

It is supplied with an instruction booklet and is compatible with both mini and regular V battery plates enabling it to attach to a compatible camera or V plate used with a videography rig. It can also be used much like a regular power bank for charging phones and other devices. The outer casing of the battery is a carbon fibre effect. It has the standard V batt BP terminals plus two D-Tap in/out, USB-A out, and one USB-C in/out.

I especially like the presence of the OLED display which clearly shows charging status and information relating to the power outlets while the battery is in use. Voltage output and remaining usage time are present in the display based upon amount of power being used by connected devices. It has support for multiple charging protocols including PD, QC, SCP, PPS, and APPLE-2.4A.

It can be charged with a suitable power source using the USB-C input or by my preferred method using a dedicated D-Tap charging unit. It certainly packs a lot of power into a relatively compact battery which is capable of 99Wh, operating at 14.8V.

I have been using it to power field monitors, audio recorders, COB lighting as well as charging a range of portable devices. In summary this is in my opinion a very good quality Mini V battery which is reasonably priced when taking into account the very useful display, capacity and wide compatibility. Over the last few weeks since it arrived It has performed flawlessly and I am confident to recommend.

It has the usual quality feel and build of a K&F product, although you will require a v mount adapter to mount it to certain cameras.
Comes with a clear lcd display giving usb- C and A outputs , power button is easily pressed to power the unit on. But is also easily pressed to power it off accidentally !
I will be using it as a stand alone power source for charging , iPads and iPhone.
Not the lightest or smallest but is a solid piece of kit to have on your travels if you’re away from power for a long weekend and wanting multiple charges.
Overall a solid piece of kit but maybe rather pricey for what it is .

Got this K&F concept battery to use on my Canon R6 rig with the Smallrig tiltable Vmount bracket, and it's an awesome addition to my rig.

Adding a Vmount to your rig increases the weight tremendously but can also help reduce some hassle, especially, if like me, you are using a monitor as well. My monitor is an OSEE T5, and it likes to absolutely chew through the Sony NPF style batteries, so I'm always changing them like twice on shooting days. With this Vmount battery, I can plug in a usbc-to-usb micro cable, and power the screen off it for the entire day no problem.

I have one other Vmount battery, and this K&F has some big advantages. One, it's smaller than the competitor in every dimension, which is great for cuttings some bulk. Two, the screen is much more useful and provides pretty much the easiest way to tell how long its going to last - a run time meter! This is so awesome and being new to v-mount, I didn't even know it existed. On the screen of the K&F, you can see both USB port voltages, the battery voltage and bars%, as well as the current runtime for the output you are using. I have not used this to power my camera or other accessories quite yet, but seeing that number is incredibly useful.

One complaint, which might be a USB restriction, is that my display refuses to work on a USBA-to micro cable. I'm not sure if this is because USBA can't resolve above 5v or what, but I have to use a C-to-micro. PD on the USB C port works as expected, and is very useful because to power an R6, you have to use that. Unfortunately with my current cable set, my display cable blocks my USB port on my camera, so I wasn't able to power both the camera and screen at the same time, but I'm sure that's possible with a cable change.

Overall for the price of this battery, it's awesome. I would say that you should refrain from dropping it, as you should with most camera gear, but the plastic on it does not feel super thick. The vmount has a plastic plate where it contacts the receiving end, and feels just fine. It's attached with 3 screws so if you do break it somehow, it could theoretically be replaced.

Charging this over USBC works fine and charges the battery up in some amount of time (I always charge the night before shoots so I don't really care). If you look at the screen while charging, it does actually show that the voltage resolves to 20v, so make sure you are using a PD-compatible charger to get maximum charging speed.

This is your basic V-mount battery for use on a portable lighting solution. A lot of applications for theses units but I've been putting this one on LED light panels or COB constant lights a fair amount. Performance has been really good and the unit is well made with a nice finish and tightly fitting port covers.

The integrated display helps you keep track of charge percentage and output voltage. I found this pretty helpful. I used my D-tap charger without issue on this unit and it came back to full charge pretty quickly.

All in all a solid unit that I have in my kit for those times when you need power to go.

First of all, this is a good price for a V-Tap battery like this, a bit on the heavy side but that can't be helped. Initial charge took 4 hours to get to full power. Now usage is down to 60% at the lowest and takes about 2.5 hours to get back to full. Not bad, I think and coomes with an array of any type of port you way need likes the USBs and D-Tap. I have a dummy battery attached to this from another manufacturer to power my R5 and they all play well together. No issues. The V attachment also hangs well on my Neewer and SmallRig cages and pieces. Sometime in direct bright sunlight of this tropical region, the screen can be a little hard to read. Have to shade it with something but the readout is fantastic. No need to look at a little line of LCD dots to see the charge, thank goodness. All in all it was exactly what I was looking for, I now I don't have to send assistants back to the office to charge or get me new batteries!

This battery is amazing and works perfect with the Canon R5C and a Kondor Blue DTap to USB-C cable. Highly recommend due to it's size and weight.

Update: K&F Concept replaced the battery with very little effort. So this is nonsense. The battery itself works great and powers my FX3+ Atomos monitor all day. It is great! Bought the battery in April. It's June so not even a full 3 months and today during a shoot the battery died and all that happens is the K&F Concept logo appears when I plug it in. I literally have no idea what went wrong. Only powered one FX3 and one Ninja Atomos. The battery was 100% charged and now it's just a brick. Maybe K&F Concept sees that. I've already emailed customer service.

I bought a couple of these for my fx6.
Can shoot for a good few hours on a single battery. The 2nd was a back up so I can charge and shoot at the same time. Would recommend getting a v lock charger. The display is great, plenty of info about battery % etc

K&F Concept has the best customer service! After writing a bad review on this product which had some issues, they were kind enough to reach out to me and help me solve my problem! old review: NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS PRODUCT. I have this battery along with the K&F Concept Vmount battery plate. When I connect the V99 battery to any Vmount. I noticed that I can move it apart/down. ATTENTION, the Vmount is not safe, I already dropped the battery because I put my rig on my chest. So I included an extra plate that comes with the K&F Concept Vmount plate and seems secure but is only held in place with a 1/4"-20 screw. These are both products from K&F Concept. I don't understand why I need to install a second disk to make it work. With an item this expensive and all the publicity they put on the two, you'd think they'd be compatible. I'm just waiting for the reply from K&F Concept so I can update it.
